How do you handle nasty customers?

I got cused out by gentlemen because we were out of a sale idem and I told him to go to the service desk and get a rain check and he kept cussing me out and I got the cashier manager and he was cussing her out, then she got the manager of the store and he handled him.

I handle them very nicely. Most of them just want to feel like a big person or they are blowing off steam. Kill them with kindness. Just turn a deaf ear to their ranting & get the manager & let them deal with it. That's why THEY get paid the big bucks.

Hi Gloria, I think you handled it as well as you could have. Nobody gets paid enough to be cussed out. A good sale item is almost always runs out fast, it's almost always labeled "while supplies last". Did the guy think you were going to produce one out of thin air? I'm lucky in the fact that I get to be the manager in the fact that I always start out by being nice but if the customer persist in being a jerk, I politely get to show him where the door is and promptly tell him to not return. Over the years i have found that the customers who throw fits like that are the ones who spend the least. These customers are the ones who will only buy the super sale items, the ones that are considered add leaders. The product that the company loses money on in hopes that while the customer is there, they will pick up three or four more items that are normal mark up. These type of customers only want the add leader items and nothing else. If they can't get it right then, the mantrum begins. So if you lose this customer, so what, you would never turn a profit off him anyways. Always remember, a customer is someone who spends money, a good customer is someone who spends lots of money. I have told many people over the years that as soon as they want to act like an adult and talk in an adult manner, come see me, until then I have other work to do. Is it the best customer service? Nope it isn't, but I make a ton of money for the company so I usually get a pass on my behavior. Like when the owner tells me I shouldn't do that and I look straight at him and tell him to run his own damn company then. That usually shuts him up. Well anyways don't do what I do. You did the right thing.

Once you do all you can call for a upper member of management. If they continue call the police dept. And explain to them the situation have them removed for disturbing the peace.

The only thing you can really do is kill them with kindness and if they continue with their bad behavior you do what you did you get somebody above your paygrade to handle the problem because that's why they make more money to deal with problems like this all you can do is do your best and never ever lose your temper wait until after you get off work and then go hit a heavy bag or cuss or yell or have a few drinks and get it out of your system that way but you must always be professional in a job environment no matter what because your employer will always remember how you reacted and it will affect how you can move up or if you can move up in the company don't forget always look out for number one which it's you and let number two worried about himself and the most important thing is after you get your anger out afterwards don't dwell on it because it will do you no good don't stress yourself out it's not worth it
