It's hard. I've been a housewife most of my life. I've been . I haven't worked in about 20 years!!!. Everything I went to school for is worthless these days. I had to start over and humble myself into working for minimum. I do house cleaning and at present I am working for political research company. Yes telemarketing!!!. I resorted to these websites and found that they are no help. They send me all these jobs that are available and I've sent out my applications but no one calls or asks me to go in for an interview. Now a days you have to do everything on line. It was so much easier back then. Good luck friend. Try networking with family.

Concentrate on your latent skills and not the 17 years. You should focus on what you would like to do as long as you have some experience that relates to it. Just go for it and apply for anything you'd enjoy, however, be realistic. God bless.

Remember the skills that you have acquired through life experience...like managing your time when you did things for everyone, budgeting finances when you had to know to the penny what was your household budget. These ARE skills so don’t cut yourself short. Now let employers know how these skills would make you a great fit in their company. If they want certain skills then acquire them through volunteer work or some other way. Everyone has talents, it’s just a matter of putting them in writing.

If you have any idea's try starting your own business, the older we get the harder it becomes. Best way to go is: Start your own small Business and build it, something that other people would like to see even have available in your area.

Hey Delisa, Glad to hear that you are ready to return to the workforce. Th.ere are several things that I would to to return to the workforce, but each person is different and the environment and challenges are just as varied. I would first find out what's out there, then I would find out what I can do, then I would find out how I can match me to what's out there. I would get tips from people who are already in the workforce, and then I would put together a killer resume, because it's a competition. Then I would "put my toes in the water to see if it's too hot or if I would have to adjust it for my comfort". It's going to take a few tries and a few adjustments, but there is a chance and that's all you really want is "a chance". Good Luck
