What should I do?
Hey. So I am a high schooler and I am really excited to get my 1st job. My question is-What did you guys all do for your very first jobs? Is there any jobs that you loved a lot that you would tell me to apply to? Thanks for the help!!

Well, I would suggest for you to go for the fast food joints, Restaurants stay open til ten and your hours would be 4 to 10 ,great part-time job for a high schooler. Or you could go to a supermarket around the same hours and make money, whichever you prefer. And still have time to study and do homework.

If you have a choice, pick a field that you think you may enjoy. If it is a matter to get started making some money, you need at any and all jobs available. You may fall into something you like. If not you will have to accept a job to make a living and continue looking for a different job. Once hired you want to work to the best of your ability to develop good work habits, always try your best no matter what job you have.

Sorry to get long-winded there but there's so much I want to say to you but I will say this that whatever you do be dedicated with it put your mind heart Body and Soul into it and be the best that you can at it and know as much as you can about it because that is what's going to make you valuable to your superiors and if you don't like that profession try something else and again dedicate yourself to that not as much about it do it to the best of your ability because your name your signature goes on every single thing you do and you want it to have a positive result so build a wonderful reputation of being a dedicated hard-working person honest and diligent and you will go far

Hard to give you a precise answer because I'm sure you'll get a million answers Moon different jobs but all I can tell you is what my father told my brothers and I and that was notarized many skills and trades as you can because there is no telling what kind of work you will be doing throughout your whole life time that's an awful long time some people try for it call Carrier and something the manufacturing area her something clerical are even something like an investigative service but you have to get in on the ground floor first and that's difficult without experience already and that's the hardest part is to get someone to give you an opportunity even though you are not experienced that will train you on the job hands on and I would like to say that should there be an interest in a particular field I work then try to do research learn about that product or procedure or organization whatever it is nowadays with Google you can learn almost anything and do study because that's going to help you and whatever Endeavor you choose I hope this answer helps somewhat I know it's probably not exactly what you were looking for perhaps others can include their ideas as well I personally did drafting mechanical drawing I took it in school mechanical drawing that is so it helped me to get the draftsman job for the heat recovery Corporation in Houston I've always done Plumbing in my home and my family's home as well as electrical work though I took a vocational course at the copiah-lincoln junior college in Mississippi where I'm from that help me with the carpentry I'm an artist been drawing and painting since I was a child so I applied for a sign company and started working on the ground floor cutting and building panels for the big Billboards on the side of the highways and I had an opportunity to learn how to letter so then I was able to utilize my artwork as well and along with that you learned a lot about electrical work regarding the different voltages and amperage for the different signs as well as even Neon so as I said before pay attention watch people learn as much as you can and then go for it and then show them what you know and it may be just enough to get you in the door

Mike, You're off to a good start. My first job was at a car wash. Good job if you like to be outdoors. Great tips!

I was told to work where you are a customer. I got a job in a store at the mall. My advice is to start at the bottom of any chain where you see yourself in 5 years. Food? Then wash dishes, working up to bussing then waiting. Office? Start in the mail room or maintenance moving up to reception then admin. Retail? Start in a warehouse. Real estate? Deliver signs. Teaching? Do in home child care/ sitting. What a fun stage/ sky is the limit!

Hello Mike Most teens like mentioned on another comment work in fastfood but fastfood doesn't fit everyone the job you get you have to enjoy or else you will be forcing yourself to go to work everyday. My first job was a waitress grant the resturant i worked at was my parents but I love ppl and I like to serve ppl making someone smile is so heart warming. So that's my suggestion to you look for something that you enjoy doing. God bless and the best of luck to you Mike

I think you need a work permit first. Grocery stores as a bagger.
