Totally wronged by “Sweet Southern Pickins” I worked for over a year and got injured on the job. I broke my heel in 5 places and broke my ankle. I was completely disabled from 10/05/2018 to 02/20/2019. Marlena Heck is the owner and she never called or made any effort whatsoever to check on me the entire time I was out. Her father Rick Mays was my boss “Rick Mays paid me every Friday” after my injury Rick Mays gave me $300 a week for 5 weeks. And then Rick Mays informed me that I would have to repay any monies after that 5th week. (Impossible with no income) So I had no choice but to depend on my amazing church family and friends to survive until 02/20/2019 when I showed up that morning for work. At which point I was allowed to work for one week and Rick Mays immediately took $400 out of my check for a truck payment and shorted me $50 that he neglected to make right. Then Rick Mays sent a text stating he had no work and would contact me when he had more work scheduled. After about a month Rick Mays repossessed the truck that I had paid $5000 on. So in short I was injured on Sweet Southern Pickins job, then they worked my for one week and then laid me off and repossessed a truck I had already paid $5000 on. If you go to Sweet Southern Pickins website they claim to be a Bible based company. All I have to say is I don’t believe that they are Bible based at all. I just wanted everyone to do your homework on Sweet Southern Pickins before you have them do any work for you. And I strongly warn anyone to avoid employment with this company as they are not what they appear. All anyone has to do is read the google and better business bureau more bad than good reviews. All-of the good reviews are family and friends.
