What does Disney have to do with my job interview?
In 2 different final candidate job interviews, one of the questions was ..."Who is your favorite Disney character and why?" Although I answered the question politely, it left me thinking ... what the heck does this have to do with hiring me in a senior level manager position...
My perspectives on movies, movie characters, and fictional stories are very different and separate from who I am. I understand the need for behavioral questions and trying to get to know someone, but I think this is a stretch for accurately understanding a person's character and capability for a job.
Thoughts/recommendations?

Cinderella, she from the start was taught by her Father how to care, love and be responsible for others; educate herself, enjoy Life and to know how precious things are in Life. In addition, she was also shown in her youth to hold on go what you learn and need to grown; how to hain during time of loss to possess and utilize all resources to proper. However, how to treat others; how to maintain a little to gain much!

I was asked at an interview what my favorit candy bar was and why? LOL

I believe it's a question that tell future employers a little bit about you

Thanks everyone - I appreciate all the feedback.

@Teresa Allen Hello Teresa, this might have been a personality question to see if you’ll mesh well with the team. I’ve had something similar where the interviewer asked if I was a Star Wars or Star Trek fan, one quick look across the office and you could see this was a Star Wars environment. I agree, I don’t think this accurately reflects an individuals ability to do the job but they will probably continue to do things like this.

Did you ask why they needed to know your answer to those questions? I would of asked why they were asking such questions and then once they answered my question then I would have answered their question.

So what did you say?

Lol this is quite funny actually.

I worked for a school system with a school board as my boss, I was their administrator who had to go along with their policies like it or not. Not sure why Disney would care about who your favorite character is.
