Hi Cindy! Do you have any contact from when you worked there in the past? It might be a good idea to find them online and reach out!
Hi Cindy, Ashley made me aware of your post and I can provide some information. I was a recruiter for the airline and happen to have a daughter currently working for United. I know United hires flight attendants who might be looking for a second career. I went to a pinning ceremony in Houston and I was very pleased to see the diversity which encompassed a much broader age range. I am not going to sugar coat it there is very stiff competition, (United) 1 in 1000 applications. 1 in 100 interviewed from what my daughter advised. They will search you on the internet so everything needs to be very professional. I suggest posting photos of yourself that make you look like a flight attendant. The way the system works with most airlines is that you are told what your base will be, and then you are on reserve after that. If available you then can later put in a request to transfer (Normally you are in your assigned base for at least a year. ). Airlines that are more domestic like Southwest or Jet Blue may allow you more opportunity to relocate or get where you want to be. I have friends in the business that have done this since the 80's. You know it is a life style not a job. The first step is just to apply to everyone who is taking applications. Continue to submit until you get a bite, I would even try small regional airlines because once you get your foot in the door you can hop to another airline and you will be more appealing. Another thought is to look into being a corporate flight attendant. It would require paying to be trained on aircraft yourself. Once you get an interview please contact me I have coached may people including my daughter through that process, there are definitely some tips I can give. Be prepared they normally start with a pre recorded skype interview now a days. Best of luck, Always happy to help. Karen
