Feeling gutted.
I was laid off after my company was bought last October, and I have dedicated 50 hours a week +most weekends to finding a new job. It's been 6 months and I don't have so much as a good lead. Lots of interest, a few interviews, but no offers. I expanded my search to a long commute, then to a few hours relocation, then Nationwide...but still nothing. My unemployment is up at the end of the month and my family is in jeopardy and I feel like such a failure. I have managed several very successful marketing departments and have always been lauded as an outstanding employee and an asset to the company, so I have to assume it is my age and salary level. I'm too experienced for half the jobs, and without an MBA or a stint with a major corporation, not experienced enough for the rest. I work in B2B where digital and social media is in its infancy, and while I have more experience than most in this market, companies want young digital marketing experts from the B2C world with no market or product experience to speak of.
I have applied to everything, submitted my resume everywhere, networked with everyone, worked every angle...I am desperate and don't know what else to do.
