Medical Billing/coding
I have not and will not stop looking :) I am still looking for a position as a Medical biller/coder or medical claims processor in the Chicago area. I got my Associate degree last year in Medical Reimbursement Technology and will utilize it because I did not go to school for nothing. I am working now but my goal is to be in my field of study asap! Also, does anyone know how/where I can take the state exam to get my certificate without being charged an arm and a leg? If you can point me in the right direction, I would truly appreciate it! I have been researching this since I graduated and keep coming up to brick walls but I thank any assistance from anyone! What I’ve been hearing from other members seeking employment opportunities in the healthcare industry is that experience plays a big part in the recruiting process. Completing your education in the field definitely adds value to your candidacy for the job but lack of multiple year of experience in the field could be keeping you from getting your foot in the door. Have you personally noticed any concerns over lack of healthcare work experience with the applications you’ve filled?
If so, then there is an opportunity to make your experience stand out on paper by identifying and then emphasising all the interchangeable skills and experience you have acquired at previous jobs. Aligning those skills to meet the requirements employers demand is a great way to get you noticed and called in for an interview. Have you been on any interviews for Medical Coding jobs recently? I am sure with your determination you will receive the position you desire. I would suggest to seek out temp agencies, that specialize in the medical field, which will help get your foot in the door.
