Where is The Food??

Did anybody getting this weird response?. After two phone interviews, one with HR at Charles River , and with the team I was invited onsite for an onsite interview !! While I was getting ready, I was waiting for a confirmation of my visit. After a week, I finally receive this e-mail:

Good afternoon Herve,

I just wanted to update you and let you know that the position we were going to have you onsite for was just filled today, so unfortunately we will not be bringing you onsite at this time. Please keep an eye on the website, and if another similar position opens up, feel free to apply, as I am sure they will be interested in continuing the conversation with you.

If you have any questions please let me know. Spencer HR Charles River Laboratories

Is this happening often in the biotech industry, or even worse is it normal procedure??

Late-stage rejection for a job you're interviewing for is sadly common among all industries. The best thing is to respond promptly and thank the interviewers for their time, despite your own disappointment or confusion. Like the email you received says, it's possible they may want to continue interviewing you in the future. Just because you weren't accepted today, doesn't mean you never will be!
