Confused

I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Adult Education & Training. I am 50 years old. I earned my degrees late in age bachelor's 2010 and master's 2013. My work history is majority call center customer service and cashier. I also have a passion for doing tax returns. In 2013 I was released from my job of 7 years as a Rental Reservations Agent for a timeshare company.....The following year in January I took another call center job as an Information Specialist. After, 10 months I decided I wanted to finish the process I started in 2012 to start my tax preparation services. I was introduced to a business owner of a tax. payroll, and bookkeeping business to get some tips and advice from her. After meeting with her a few times she offered me to come work for her in her tax division. She offered a full time position year round/more money/ and schedule flexibility...I started with her company 11/2/2015. The Saturday after Thanksgiving she called me at home to discuss (concerns she said) about not seeing any growth in her clientele for the upcoming tax season, she had expected that I would have gotten her at least 150 emails to send out an email blast. Stating that she could not afford to pay me 500 something dollars a week when she don't see where I'm building her tax division.....(all within 4 weeks) which week 4 was Thanksgiving week and we only worked 2 1/2 days.......so her solution was for me to work with her sales person (found out the company was just a small business family owned) where she wanted me to go out in the field, pass out her business flyers to other small business owners, get their business cards to bring back to her sales person to call them to try to sell them on tax preparation, payroll services, or bookkeeping services. I was required to bring back 25 business cards per day to make $50 per day which will average out to $250 a week.....So of course I was not in agreement with that....I did it for about 4 days and decided this is not for me......so now I'm unemployed, filling out applications after applications.....In the mean time, I started my own tax preparation working from home and I've also joined the Mary Kay team as a Beauty Consultant......If this were you what would you do?

I'd totally do what you're doing and start my own business! That way you can set your own hours, and you don't have to deal with people who have unreasonable demands or expectations. Keep on doing what you're doing - it's gonna work out!
