What can I do?

I have been looking for a receptionist job for a while and am going to this job fair and hoping it will help me out. What things should I ask when I am there and will too many questions overwhelm or annoy the companies that are there? Just want to make sure I do things right. Can anyone help?

When serving as a recruiter for my employer, we accepted resumes from individuals interested in our agency. We also provided materials that individuals could take and review. I would suggest you first review any materials shared, ask a few questions, and most definitely have a well prepared resume available to provide should the recruiter be willing to accept it. Leave a good impression and good luck.

Narrow your questions to 1 or 2. They are interested in weeding people out so listen well. Good Luck!!#

Go to job fair. Smile, be confident and just allow the recruiter to start. Just remember that job fairs tend to move along. Look around & zero in employers that appeal to you. Consider other positions related to receptionist. Data entry, unit secretary (hospitals or nursing homes), bank teller like that. These require similar skills. Other than that drop other resumes at the other employers. You never know.

Clara, go into a job with an open mind. Questions on the onset will eventually will be answered. Go from there. It will work for you. Promise.

Temp agencies are always looking for receptionists. Not all agency jobs are temporary.

I love job fairs! I always feel free to ask whatever I need to ask about that job or company I am interested in. I highly doubt asking too many questions would be a bad thing at job fair-that's what they are there for! Good luck with your search!!

I am in the same boat and have been looking since the beginning of May, I have applied to about 20 different places with only about three responses.

Clara, Going to Job Fairs give you access to several employers all at once. I have been to many job fairs and have been called the very next day for interviews. This is a good way to connect and network with potential employers that are looking to hire and recruit candidates for positions leading from receptionists to managerial positions. Yes, ask away so they will know what you are looking for and perhaps they can refer you to other employers whose needs match yours. TYJ
