Time off for contractors
I booked and paid for a vacation in November last year. I started a new contract position in February. Two weeks ago, I requested the two weeks off and got no response from my manager. How do I get this request approved? Should I lie and say it’s a medical issue? Say I’m dealing with a sick family member? Say I’m doing volunteer work or getting married? How in the world do you get an approval instead of being ingored? I want to make sure that I don’t have to dial in and work during that time. That is so wrong to do.

Have you gotten back in touch with your manager to talk to them about your upcoming vacation? If you just submitted the request and haven't spoken to them since, perhaps they've forgotten about it among their other responsibilities. No need to lie where honesty is perfectly acceptable. Just get in touch to say hey I booked this vacation back in November and wasn't expecting to be in a new position at that time. It's not as if nobody's ever done something like that before. Talking person to person will both remind your manager to get a task done and will give them a reason to approve your vacation. Honesty is the best policy, and if your manager doesn't understand that's really a result of a lack of empathy on their part.
Dear Susan. Send him an internal E-Mail As a reminder note follow up ref. the date of the last conversation which has put you on hold. I suspect that you have a problem telling the truth instead of being upfront with people. How can you apply for new jobs knowing that you have a problem with your credit history? It is a simply thing to do to get a copy of your credit report and then challenge the items that you disagree with. If you don't help yourself out of these "Poor Susan" situations life is going to pass you bye. Reread your posts and take responsibility for yourself! Harvey
