what do I do?!?!?
I've been a licensed cosmetologist for 7 yrs, and I have lost my passion. After having my first child, and currently pregnant with my second I have found a love for being in the kitchen. I've been a home baker now for about 3 years, and I'm having a hard time finding a baking job that doesn't require prior work in a bakery. For example I applied for dunkin donuts and I got an email saying I didn't meet the qualifications. I know I would do great if I had the opportunity....The struggle is real ya'll.

Hi Emily, it is difficult but not impossible to find a job without experience. Why not make a portfolio? Bake some items and take photos. Add the recipes next to them and if you can, have a friend snap photos of you in the process. Go to EVERY local bakery you can and drop off a copy of this portfolio complete with your resume and contact info. Don't just apply, but make sure to show them your passion. You could also consider creating an online blog as you look for work. They can be VERY profitable. [This] (https://www.howsweeteats.com/) is one of my favorite food blogger sites and when I first checked out her site, no one had even heard of her. Also, her photography (which she does herself) was not as perfect in the beginning. She learned and grew over time and it was wonderful to see that progression. Now she has a cookbook on Amazon and is making money doing what she loves. It took her awhile, but she got there and I am sure you can too. I also love this blogger and she has some great advice on baking and how to get started [here] (https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2013/11/12/how-to-make-money-from-a-food-blog/) Wishing you the best, don't give up if it's what you love to do!!

Emily, go get your certification through a community college or trade school like ivy tech. It's low cost, and only a few months, but it will get you stated. Until then bake wedding cakes at home, or open an internet bakery. Good Luck...
