My first day at #USNR
My first day with Stennis helping Stennis was a shock as we reported a week after Hurricane Katrina had struck the Gulf Coast. It looked like a nuclear bomb had been dropped as hundreds of homes along the coast were reduced to just the slab. It was hard to prove that that a house had even existed, as the storm surge reached 30-35 feet along the coastal areas. I was very proud to have volunteered though as we helped our Navy families stationed at Stennis Space Center to clean their houses up so FEMA could come and assess their properties. I would hope other Navy comrades would come to my aid if a disaster of Katrina's magnitude strikes my home town. I will never forget that experience, as I give thanks to God everyday that America stepped up and took the Gulf Coast under their wing and softened the blow for so many families!!
