I have also recently been fired from a position , OVER the PHONE! I had been an Administrator, Director of nursing, Quality assurance and Compliance filled in as field nursing. 2 Days after I turned 65 i was fired under the term " they were no longer servicing my community". I know nurses are going into the region. I helped them get the business going and become CHAPS accredited, trainings, infection control, connected with community resources and was on my 3rd year and they discarded me like I was nothing! I understand your plight, and now I am having a difficult time finding another job because who wants to hire a 65 year old woman, even though I have an impeccable resume. i feel in the 40 years of nursing our profession has changed and Administration is about quantity not quality. Oh no Trudy I am so sorry to hear this. It does happen whether a company shuts down and closes the doors or they change hands and the new company lets the current ones go. The good news is that you DO have options!
