Just Give A Brother A Chance

In today's world, people want instant gratification. Employers seem to only go with the sure thing. Yes, hiring someone with experience may be a good thing, but how's their work ethic?? Thing is, companies get so caught up in pretty resumes that they overlook a lot of good candidates. I've been getting views on my resume but only one call. This is very discouraging but I just heard on the news that unemployment is at a low for African Americans but I've been unemployed for about close to three months. I know I have the intangibles to be successful no matter what field I'm in but unfortunately, companies aren't willing to bring people in to mold them. I just want the opportunity to earn a living working somewhere I can be proud to make a career out of it. Hoping I can find the right job that fits me because I'm tired of settling for jobs just because I need to earn a living. I need a job that's gonna pay a decent amount per hour and I shouldn't feel as though my only option is Amazon.

Have you checked with the employment office on programs that they have to unemployed and part-time workers?

Consider training thru local community school. Most employers do prefer some experience. So get trained in field so that u can offer ur skills.

Our unemployment rate is near an all time low for every demographic which means plenty of jobs..and a lot fewer people to take them. You mentioned the word career..so you must not be as old as many of us on here..which means you have a better chance than a lot of us to get a job. Just keep applying..even if some of them aren't exactly what you want. You can always take a lesser job/position and in the meantime, keep looking while you're working and making some money.

Hi Donovan, Well, I am not certain that employers go with a sure thing at all, as honestly I've been lookin' to put together full time work extremely very hard for over two years now but my 64th birthday is today so I'm assumin' that my "advanced age" has negatively influenced the job search process . .

And some of the people who I see at seemingly good jobs and also at actual at least fairly good jobs are not at all impressive to me, includin' some who I've worked for during my workin' life, i.e. I believe or sometimes know for almost guaranteed sure that I am smarter and wiser and generally a better acting person than they are, brother . .

So, I really don't know how or why the fuck, pardon my old English*, these above mentioned people got hired in the 1st place for those positions, or sometimes for ANY position, my man, and cannot for the life of me figure out why they are still there in those positions!! . .

My best peace, love, and good vibes to ya, amigo, and don't ever give up puttin' yourself out there and on the table if you can help it, por favor, OK, dude!?

Samuelito Isamu El Gato Cool Cat yo tomodachi (in case you're wonderin', dude, tomodachi means friend[s] in Japanese yo tomodachi!!) . .

P.S.- Have you thought about doin' your own thing, i.e. startin' a business or a non-profit? . .

*Fuck is a profane English-language word which often refers to the act of sexual intercourse but is also commonly used as an intensifier or to denote disdain. While its origin is obscure, it is usually considered to be first attested to around 1475.

Donovan get your foot in the door wherever you can (even if the job seems below what you want) and then put that work ethic to good use. Good employers will do a lot to keep their best employees but you have to get in there and prove yourself first. If you are applying to places with store managers, it helps to talk to them in person and build a relationship. Good luck
