Some advice or opinions please
I lost my job last June 2016 and have been looking for a teaching job. I ran out of my unemployment and all the while, I have been looking for a position filling out applications that take hours to complete. I have a valid teaching certificate and 17 years experience. So far the biggest school district here in North Texas told me good luck on my job search. I think my trouble with getting a job has to do with a bad evaluation I got several years ago, but I have to answer honestly on job applications. I am also handicap, I show up at interviews using a walker or my scooter, depending on the place I go to interview. Should I be having such a hard time finding work, or did all the rules change and I didn't know about it?

Lancaster job fair is this weekend.

Hello, i stay in Desoto, Tx myself. Idk what school you previously worked at but Lancaster high School is looking for teachers now. Matter of fact, they just held an on campus job fair this past week. If that sounds like a good opportunity for you, id look into that. Best wishes

Check with DARS,they may be able to help you. You could sub,and that could lead to permanent position. You could tutor as a sub contractor as well. Look outside the box the perfect career could be coming up very soon. Good luck and don't give up.

Is there a particular reason why you lost your teaching job? Were you laid off or fired. I am surprised that you cannot find a teaching job, I am sure that they are looking for teachers. What are they looking for as far as requirements ? do you meet them.
If I were you, I would apply to another state, in the mean time see if you can stay with a family member or friend until you get back on your feet

Maria, I like the comments made by Mr. O'Brien on pivoting. Here is another type of pivot you can maybe look into:
You say 17 years of experience, but did not say what subject, so I'm going to guess that experience is at the lower/middle school. With very minimal training, you can pivot your knowledge base to tutoring toward on-line type of training. That is-tutoring using a computer that has all the bells and whistles of video and audio, and you can sign up to the world wide web of tutoring companies that would supply you with interested students since they are getting all their homework there done these days anyway.
Just a suggestion since your mobility is the what might be holding you back.

What seems to be the issue

Social services. Com and connection academy or k12 to teach online.

Trust in god and don't Loss the hope . Raise the hope sign in your mind and heart. And try and tell your self no give up . Bleave that.

Maybe you could try pivoting just slightly to something a little different. Maybe you could go into tutoring. If you love teaching in a classroom environment, maybe you could get TESOL certified and teach ESL courses in colleges or as adult education courses. Whatever you're interested in, you can pivot it. I think the thing people most miss is that they sometimes bang their head on the wall with one method. Changing your end goal may feel like a compromise at first, but it can lead to a quicker hire and a happier life overall. Good luck!
I don't know. I do know it's cheaper to hire a new teacher fresh out of college then one with 17 years experience. The fact that you lost your last job is a bit of a problem too. On the plus side, they are always looking to hire handicapped people 2 show that they are complying with the AHA. All I can do is wish you luck.
