You may want to consider adding a summary of your more recent jobs? Try listing it as 'Independent consultant" and make sure you name the customers.

Man, I hear your pain. You were an independent contractor, 'nuff said.
Some unsolicited encouragement; things will pick up, and get better, just hang in there and do not despair. And dont give up; keep your integrity.
Could you download and learn some new apps that might dove tail with your resume and give you some added advantage in job seeking?
It is hard to say not knowing your exact situation, but keep going toward your goals. You dont really lose till you give up.

Hi Prakash, It's completely acceptable to say that you have been an independent contractor, and do not emphasize "unemployed" but more self-employed. Many computer operators work as independent contractors, so nothing to be ashamed about. Good luck with your job search.

I feel your pain, my brother! Have you done any volunteer work? How about going back to school? If you're young then potential employers will be a little more forgiving then if you're an old fart like me!

Hi Prakash: Happy to help you out with this one! I suggest treating this period of time as a freelancer, especially if you were still working with computers. Highlight some of your more successful client stories when describing what you did as a freelancer. Hope this helps!
I have a seven year gap no one ever questions. It was before, during, and after law school and I did freelance work in the interim. I formed an LLC, but you don't need one. Take whatever you did during that time and describe it as educational, volunteer, or freelancing.
