I love helping people. As a hospital charge nurse in a post surgical ward, some years ago, It was my goal in the evening to visit each patient and, as time permitted. Not just to give them meds or check their IV's or dressings, but to find out about THEM. Some evenings it was a lofty goal, however I believe my patients knew I cared. I believe the act of caring is as important as the nursing treatments I provided.

As a psychologist trained in trauma work and clinical pastoral care, who once spent many months working in a psych icu as well as supervising psychology interns there - I am ever more respectful,!impressed, and grateful for the amazing breadth and quality of skills nurses bring to their work. Beyond that - mist are indeed compassionate and caring - than you for your post! Be blessed!

You did a very nice thing. Some people have no one.

I agree. My sister is a nicu nurse and she cares. It makes all the diffrence. When i had my baby one nurse was amazing! She proved she cared. Talked with me. Showed intrest. Another nurse made my stay hell. I had a rough delivery. I didnt know i was in labor for a week before and they didnt understand anything. This one nurse i calked for help with my daughter. She said she was at lunxh and she would be back in 20 mins. I said get another nurse then. Something is wrong with my daughter. 25 mins later she xame in and rushed my daughter away for not breathing. She was a nightnare. People like you and my sis are the ones who make a diffrence and really help these patience in times of fear and worry.

Helping people, especially when they are in need is one of the most rewarding experience there is, by helping people and providing some kind of comfort to them, we are actually helping ourselves. So we should thank them for giving us that wonderful opportunity.

Hello, Jean, Imagine that, a nurse who really cares!! Who woulda thought?? LOL Actually, that is a very noble role to assume - especially nowadays where it seems it's all about bilking the patient's insurance and getting paid. I kinda took that stance as a psych case manager (my first attempt at case management) and though I was applauded for having a heart for the paitents, I was terminated due to other circumstances.

I too worked at a hospital, but not in the medical or nursing. I worked in a parking lot. I too wanted to and did help people the best I could unfortunately I got no help from the people inside I would call in cars with lights on and they would tell me there is nothing they could do so unfortunately I had no phone in my booth. I did the best I could with what I had If I was just trying to help the security dept. out as they are the ones who would have to jump start the car

How funny can that be I used to help people myself I mean I still do I have a kind heart but I used to be a certified nurse's assistant Physical Therapy 8 wow

buen trabajo todo lo bueno que hagas por los demas sera recompenzado Dios es bueno

I fully 100% agree. I think most corporations don't believe in the personal touch anymore. I think its important to patient care.
