Beyond down right now

For 8 years I was a stay at home mom. I eventually got a job, not because I had to but because I wanted to. Then me and my ex split up and he bailed. Leaving me with numberous bills and 2 kids to raise. I had to leave my home because I couldn't afford it. I ended up moving in with my two kids into my now in-laws place. Where we have been for the last 3 years. It's been tough. My kids don't have bedrooms... Me and my husband are cramped into one room. I eventually got another job making better money but I ended up losing it. I had finally gotten myself a vehicle and it seemed as though things were looking up for me. Then I lost my job 4 months ago, and I lost my truck because I couldn't pay for it. Now I'm back at square one. I've have put in a ton of apps but Everytime I call about them they have either been filled, or I get told someone will get in touch with me. But no one has. I'm feeling like I'm letting my kids down. The fact that they don't have their own space is getting to all of us.

Any suggestions on what I can do to speed things up a bit? I do have a 4 bedroom house just waiting for me to move in. But there is a ton of work to be done on it. I'm completely overwhelmed and I'm about to give up. The only thing keeping me going is my kids. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? What did you do to get out? I'm dying here! Help!

Hopefully your husband is working. Contact HUD and/or Habitat for Humanity to see if they can provide assistance in regard to getting your 4 bedroom home habitable. Contact your local Dept of Welfare to see if they can provide assistance with ANYTHING! The fact that you have kids could/should produce some results. I did a quick search for jobs and some that popped up were Jack in the box, Big Lots, and a senior living facility that states 'no experience necessary, will train'. You can search yourself by going to the jobs & companies link. Also, look at temp agencies, your local careerlink, and any free publications /newsletters in your area that have help wanted ads (a lot of times there are small companies that advertise in these but don't advertise online). Your objective is get any job you can until you find a better one. Your current situation is not ideal and I'm sure it's hard to stay sane, but at least you have a roof over your head. My driving force has always been my kids so I feel for you. Just make sure you are doing what you need to do. Be constant and be persistent. Best of luck to you.

register with every temp agency you can. then call them once a week...usually Tuesdays work best because they spend all day Monday sorting through paperwork/job orders and really hit the ground running Tue thru Thursday. Most will then blow off Fridays unfortunately. I'm with about 20 agencies here in Pgh and generally can stay active just enough to pay bills....then land a 3 month to 6 month gig somewhere to get me through the year. It sucks....I'm honestly in no real better situation than you are, but like you I keep pushing because of kids. hang in there and good luck.

I have been where you at. You might want to look into driving in your state non medical transportation . You get paid good and you will be back on your feet and no time.
