What to wear to your virtual interview
Just because you can’t be face to face during your interview doesn’t mean you can’t dress for success! A virtual interview should be treated just like any other. It’s important to prepare what you will wear so you can look your best and feel confident!
What to Wear
Ladies
- A suit with a button up shirt worn underneath
- Mid-length skirt (a little below the knee and/or longer)
- Limited jewelry (avoid flashy, again the focus is on YOU)
- Light/natural makeup
- Manicured nails (avoid chipped and overly bright nail polish, think neutrals)
Men
- A suit (if you can't wear a suit consider wearing your best dress shirt, pants, and a tie)
- Long sleeve button up shirt (again a solid color) and coordinating dress pants
- Conservative tie (stick to solids no crazy patterns, logos, etc.)
- Limited jewelry
- Trimmed/well-groomed facial hair
Other Helpful Advice
Stick with solids
Avoid crazy bright colors or patterns that will take the focus off of your face and place it onto your clothes.Avoid distracting accessories
Keep jewelry to a minimum and leave your flashing musical tie for the holiday parties. Also stay away from anything super shiny that will mess up the light on the camera!Dress 100% for the interview
During a video interview, it’s true that the screen will only show a certain portion of your body, but it’s important to avoid wearing a professional top and something less professional on your legs such as sweat pants.
You never know if you may need to stand up to grab something or the camera may move to reveal that you aren’t dressed appropriately. Besides, dressing 100% head to toe for the interview will allow you to get in the zone, feel confident, and know that this is a real opportunity.Iron and lay out your outfit the night before
Save yourself time in the morning by preparing your outfit ahead of time! Spend the time prepping and relaxing for a bit before your conversation.

Also make sure the view behind you is neutral. No photos that you would not post on FB
do not have the television on either...:)
