1. Wind Turbine Technician (Windtech)

What do they do?
Let’s just say this job is NOT for those who fear heights! These technicians are expected to inspect, install, test and maintain wind turbines. This is a hands-on job that requires individuals to strap into harnesses for safety as they work upwards of 260 feet in the air!

How much can you earn?
The median wage of a windtech is about $54,000 per year, depending on location and experience.

2. Food Stylist

What do they do?
Food stylists are creative minds who set the stage for food photography. They work closely with editors, photographers, chefs and restaurant owners. In some cases, the stylist may also be the one who takes the photos. They’re responsible for choosing the accessories for the shoot, arranging the food and making sure it looks good enough to eat!!

How much can you earn?
The median wage of a food stylist is approximately $60,000 - $68,000 per year, but this varies depending on your expertise, portfolio and location!

3. Professional Bridesmaid

What do they do?
Jen Glantz is a professional bridesmaid and her role includes “being there as the bride’s personal assistant and on-call therapist.” They are typically responsible for helping the bride and groom plan the logistics and make important decisions regarding their special day. Sometimes it’s an easy gig that consists of eating cake and owning other guests on the dance floor. Other times, it means dealing with panic calls in the middle of the night from a stressed-out Bridezilla.

What do they do?
If you have a naturally smooth, enthusiastic, and enjoyable voice - maybe voice acting is for you! It’s an exciting career that allows you to work on a variety of exciting projects on your own time. You can be the voice over for commercials, the reader of audiobooks, or the one who brings a cartoon character to life!

How much can you earn?
The average wage for a voice actor is $28 - $40 per hour.

5. Professional Sleeper

What do they do?
Yup, you read that right! A professional sleeper is someone who gets paid to SLEEP! They typically do this as part of a scientific study where scientists analyze sleep patterns and the quality of sleep-related products. Sometimes, you’ll be testing things such as sleep aid pills, essential oils, mattresses, pillows and blankets. Then you write up a detailed report of your experience and findings.

How much can you earn?
The length and duties of each individual job varies greatly, so it’s tough to come up with an average salary. However, any $$ that can be earned by snoozing is a plus in my book!
