Find an hourly job at one of Walmart’s many locations

Following these steps to complete the online job application at Walmart will make it easy to find an hourly job. Here’s a guide to filling out the application, and suggestions to get through Walmart’s career assessment test.

Visit the Walmart career web page

Go to the Walmart careers site and explore the hourly jobs that Walmart hires for. Before you register for a jobs account, you can read job descriptions for the various in-store or distribution center/driver positions by clicking on the appropriate tab.

If any of those job descriptions are interesting, register for a Walmart jobs account with your email and a password. The account allows you to track the status of your applications – there’s even an option to get text message updates when an application status changes.

Create a career profile

There are 6 steps to create your Walmart career profile.

**Step 1 ** Identity verification with Social Security Number, followed by contact information.

  • Opt in for text message application updates
  • Select English or Spanish as preferred language of communication
  • Confirm age range
  • Confirm employment visa status, and document legal to work

**Step 2 **Equal Employment Opportunity questions about gender and ethnicity

**Step 3 **Employment History Before entering previous jobs, Walmart asks for years of experience in each of four work categories: Sales, Grocery, Warehouse, and Manufacturing.

  • If you are applying for store or warehouse jobs, you should enter your employment history for the previous six years. (If you don’t have six years, that’s okay.)
  • For hourly drivers, Walmart asks for 10 years of the most recent work history.

**Step 4 ** Military Service – Are you an active member of the military reserves?

**Step 5 ** Qualification for Tax Credits – These questions identify specific groups of people (example: ex-felons, veterans, long-term unemployed, etc.) for potential tax benefits to employers if they are hired.

**Step 6 **Work Availability – Identify days and hours you’re available to work. Choose if you want work in the stores, or in the Supply Chain Distribution network (warehouses and driving) Enter a state and city OR ZIP code and number of miles willing to travel; the locations that match the geography will pop up

Jobs that match your criteria will appear. Click on the positions that you want to be considered for. Once you hit submit, you may be asked to take an assessment test.

The Walmart career assessment test

For many jobs – particularly customer- and team-focused – Walmart has applicants complete an online assessment immediately after filling out the application. The questions focus on how you would respond in certain situations, either with customers or with coworkers.

Remember when answering the assessment questions that Walmart wants employees who are cooperative and customer-centric, so answer accordingly.

The assessment should take about 15-20 minutes to complete.

  • **Section 1 ** Judges possible reactions in each of five at-work scenarios. Read the choices carefully; then choose which of the four is the best reaction and which is the worst
  • **Section 2 ** Considers your ability to navigate team working situations, with multiple choice answers
  • **Section 3 **Asks you to demonstrate how to give proper change with the fewest bills and coins
  • **Section 4 **Asks you to rate yourself based on your own work history, using multiple choice answers
  • **Section 5 **Asks you to rate your personal work habits, using multiple choice answers

Once you complete the assessment, you’ll immediately find out if you’ve passed. If you have, congratulations! You’re off to the next step, which is to review candidates based on the shifts they’re trying to fill then set up interviews! If you don’t pass the assessment, you can retake it in 60 days.
