What is a high school equivalency (HSE)?

If you didn’t complete high school, you still have options. You can pursue a high school equivalency (HSE). An HSE gets you the same benefits of finishing high school. There are 3 accepted HSE exams that are offered (depending on the state you live in):

Looking to strengthen your understanding of elementary and secondary education? Consider Adult Basic Education (ABE).

Why is it important to have your HSE or GED?

  • Qualify for more jobs
Whether or not you have a job now, earning your high school equivalency will open doors to more opportunity, because it has the same benefits of a high school diploma. Getting an HSE qualifies you for more jobs, and higher quality jobs, than you would have without the certification. If you’re looking to stay in your current job, you may not get promoted if you don't have an HSE.

  • ** Increase your self-esteem**
Accomplishment and pride frankly feel good. Obtaining an HSE shows employers, family and friends that you are capable. While it will take some work, achieving an HSE can increase your self-confidence.

  • ** Be a role model**
Show younger people that you value your education, and that they should too. An HSE can better your life and what better way to show kids what success looks like?

  • ** Path to education**
You may have thought college was out of reach, but with your HSE, you can apply to college. An HSE may also be a requirement for various training programs and trade schools.

How do I get my HSE?

Start by finding out which test is available in your state. Click here for a full list of states, the HSE test(s) offered and scroll down to your state. The GED is most common, but any of the 3 tests listed are acceptable high school equivalency tests. Good luck and go for it!

A high school equivalency (HSE) is a certification that serves as an alternative to a high school diploma. It is available to individuals who did not complete high school but want to obtain the same benefits that come with finishing high school.

There are three accepted HSE exams that are offered, depending on the state you live in: the General Educational Development (GED®) test, the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), and the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC). Besides that I can't help but notice that sources like https://samplius.com/free-essay-examples/the-distance-between-us/ are a great advantage for anyone who wants to do their studies, here are a lot of writings like the distance between us and others, it helps a lot and saves time, I think it should be taken into consideration. Obtaining an HSE or GED is important because it opens doors to more job opportunities and higher quality jobs than you would have without the certification. It can also increase your self-esteem and provide a path to further education, such as college or trade schools.
