How to apply for jobs at ALDI
Jump to section

Headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, ALDI has more than 2,000 grocery stores across 36 states, employs over 25,000 people and has been steadily growing since opening its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976. The stores and its employees deliver high quality food, responsive customer service, everyday low prices, and a quick-and-easy shopping experience.

Below are helpful tips and general information on applying to ALDI

  • In general, candidates are not required to submit proof of a diploma, transcripts or GED when applying online. The only exception is for District Manager applicants, in that they are required to submit an official college transcript

  • All employees must be 18 years of age to work at ALDI

  • All new hires are required to take a drug test and go through a full background check

  • Before a job offer is extended out to a qualified candidate, it usually takes between 2-4 interviews (1 phone screen and 2-3 in-person and/or group interviews)

ALDI application process

Create an account and submit an application online

  • Watch for email updates regarding your application status. Expect to receive a response within two weeks

  • If selected, a hiring manager will schedule a phone and/or in-person interview

  • Have interview(s) with a store manager and/or district manager (one-on-on or in a group)

  • If chosen, you will receive a job offer

  • After receiving an offer, you must complete onboarding requirements online: pre-employment screenings (drug test, background check), paperwork, and picking a start date

Helpful interview tips for ALDI

  • Candidates who interview with ALDI can expect to receive feedback from the Hiring Manager within 2 weeks of their interview

  • Hiring managers often ask about ability to handle conflict, such as coworkers stealing, disgruntled customers, or rapidly changing responsibilities, during the application and interview process

  • Workers should think about personal attributes and ready responses related to the supermarket industry in order to make solid first impressions

  • ALDI typically holds hiring events to add new staff members, which candidates may attend at any time

  • Physical paper applications also remain available onsite for the convenience of prospective associates

ALDI also advises applicants to...

  • Do your research. Make sure you understand the employer, the job requirements and the background of the person interviewing you
  • Arrive early. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled interview to allow yourself time to get settled.

  • Come prepared. Research common interview questions and brainstorm your answers. Prepare questions for your interviewer to show you are interested in the position. Also, be sure to bring extra copies of your resume, and a pen and paper to take notes.

  • Follow Up. It's a good idea to follow up with your interviewer(s) by sending a thank you email or handwritten note, thanking them for their time and expressing your interest in the position.

I have a stellar work record and also beginning to suspect age plays into the selection process. Not happy that I have applied at several Aldis in several cities in NC and SC and the result is the same. I think Aldi would be a great place to work. Aldi is missing out on some great, reliable and proven resources.

I see posts that Aldi is hiring but when I physically go to the store and ask I am told not hiring at this time. I have been applying since I heard they were opening an Aldi’s in High Ridge. I have worked in Retail for many many years. Just want an opportunity to show my Customer Service and Job Skills. Thankyou!

I’ve applied for a district manager position 2xs thinking maybe they didn’t get the 1st one after I didn’t hear back from them. Still haven’t heard back from them even after 2nd time. No response, not even a generic “thanks but no thanks”. Surprised because I expected more from this company.

Well after reading the above post , I’m reluctant to apply to Aldi’s : I’ve never gotten this far ,but I’m not young & I’ve debt, some Companies won’t hire you because you’ve debt but I would like to work and pay off my dept :

I keep receiving messages that there are immediate hires at ALDI from these placement agencies...only problem is that I never can get to filling out an actual application but get everything else to fill out. It's really frustrating. I think also, that my phone numbers are being sold to other companies who make offers, again, that I am not interested in.

I have applied 6 times and every time I hear back they tell me they are looking at other Candidate. I think it my age as well. I spent 23 year in the Grocery Business.
