How to apply for jobs at ALDI
Jump to section

Headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, ALDI has more than 2,000 grocery stores across 36 states, employs over 25,000 people and has been steadily growing since opening its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976. The stores and its employees deliver high quality food, responsive customer service, everyday low prices, and a quick-and-easy shopping experience.

Below are helpful tips and general information on applying to ALDI

  • In general, candidates are not required to submit proof of a diploma, transcripts or GED when applying online. The only exception is for District Manager applicants, in that they are required to submit an official college transcript

  • All employees must be 18 years of age to work at ALDI

  • All new hires are required to take a drug test and go through a full background check

  • Before a job offer is extended out to a qualified candidate, it usually takes between 2-4 interviews (1 phone screen and 2-3 in-person and/or group interviews)

ALDI application process

Create an account and submit an application online

  • Watch for email updates regarding your application status. Expect to receive a response within two weeks

  • If selected, a hiring manager will schedule a phone and/or in-person interview

  • Have interview(s) with a store manager and/or district manager (one-on-on or in a group)

  • If chosen, you will receive a job offer

  • After receiving an offer, you must complete onboarding requirements online: pre-employment screenings (drug test, background check), paperwork, and picking a start date

Helpful interview tips for ALDI

  • Candidates who interview with ALDI can expect to receive feedback from the Hiring Manager within 2 weeks of their interview

  • Hiring managers often ask about ability to handle conflict, such as coworkers stealing, disgruntled customers, or rapidly changing responsibilities, during the application and interview process

  • Workers should think about personal attributes and ready responses related to the supermarket industry in order to make solid first impressions

  • ALDI typically holds hiring events to add new staff members, which candidates may attend at any time

  • Physical paper applications also remain available onsite for the convenience of prospective associates

ALDI also advises applicants to...

  • Do your research. Make sure you understand the employer, the job requirements and the background of the person interviewing you
  • Arrive early. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled interview to allow yourself time to get settled.

  • Come prepared. Research common interview questions and brainstorm your answers. Prepare questions for your interviewer to show you are interested in the position. Also, be sure to bring extra copies of your resume, and a pen and paper to take notes.

  • Follow Up. It's a good idea to follow up with your interviewer(s) by sending a thank you email or handwritten note, thanking them for their time and expressing your interest in the position.

I have put in 3 job applications for Aldi believe background checks are important but at the same time they have hurt me more than being a felon. I am not perfect in anyway , shape or , for but I haven't done something so wrong that the customer service I would bring to the table has not one thing to do with anything in my past. It's unfair and unjust. I worked for price cutters with no problems. Except for covid -19. I'm hitting bad financially and have no skills other than customer service. Ok only ask for a chance to survive on my own without the states help. If I cannot make it by working then there is no way or reason to go in in life. It's too difficult and I refuse to live under a bridge!!!
