Shipt is a membership-based grocery marketplace, delivering fresh foods, household essentials, and other items directly to customers brought to you by Target. Like many other delivery-based services, there has been a huge increase in the demand for immediate gig workers looking for a flexible, easy way to make additional income.

Now available in over 260 cities, we’ll outline what it takes to work at Shipt, how to get your application noticed and approved so that you can begin working and earning as a Shopper as quickly as possible.

Employee Requirements for applying to be a Shipt Shopper

• Must be at least 18 years old to participate in Shipt’s delivery program; at least 21 to deliver alcohol.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and auto insurance.

Note: You do not have to own the car you drive while shopping with Shipt. However, you do have to be insured on the policy that covers that car. If you are not an insured driver on the policy for a car, you cannot use that car while working with Shipt.

• Must have access to a reliable vehicle that is from 1997 or newer
• Must possess knowledge of produce selection
• The ability to lift 45 pounds
• Must own a smartphone with a compatible operating system

Navigating the Shipt Application

1. Create your account with your email and password. You’ll be asked to enter personal information:

• Name
• Contact information
• Mailing address
• The cities or areas you want to deliver in
• Vehicle type and driver’s license number (if driving) I
  Make sure to double-check that all the information is accurate and error-free before you proceed.

2. Make sure to thoroughly read the “Shipt Shopper Agreement” to understand the terms of employment before clicking the green “Apply Now” button

3. Following the successful completion of your application, you should receive a Shipt confirmation email within one to two business days. If you pass this first step, there are several additional steps to become eligible to work. Shipt’s recruiting team individually reviews applications based on need and will reach out should you move on in the process.

4. Shipt applicants are also required to take part in a virtual interview. This involves submitting written responses to questions about previous customer service experience and how you would behave in various shopping scenarios. Applicants also record and submit a video component of answers to similar questions. This is a chance to show off your personality and display your communication skills to the Shipt recruiting team.

Helpful Tips For Your Application

• Availability
  Shipt specifically wants to know if you can work either/both Sunday and Monday—the two busiest days for grocery orders. It’s important to make sure you are upfront and honest about whether you can work reliably these days.

• Smoking
  If you are a smoker, Shipt Shopper’s cannot smoke during their shift.

• Driver Information
  The age of your vehicle and how much driving experience you have.
