Health Insurance

Health insurance for full-time associates

  • The Home Depot entitles full-time employees to health insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents, including domestic partners and same-sex partners

  • The health insurance coverage includes dental reimbursement and vision coverage that pays for eye exams, eyeglass frames, and contact lenses

  • Time in Position Requirement: Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance coverage after they’ve worked for the company for 90 days

Optional coverage

The Home Depot offers additional optional insurance products to full-time employees to help them protect their families and finances.

  • Flexible spending accounts for medical and childcare expenses

  • Life insurance

  • Disability insurance

  • Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D)

Employees can also purchase home, auto, and pet coverage at discounts through The Home Depot.

Insurance for part-time associates

  • Part-time workers do not get health insurance coverage through the company

  • Part-time employees are eligible for some other insurance types, including dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insurance coverage

Temporary associates

  • Not eligible to participate in insurance benefit programs

Paid time off may be offered to The Home Depot Associates for the following

  • Vacation

  • Holidays

  • Personal/sick days

  • Leave of absence (including military leave)

Work-life benefits at The Home Depot

The Home Depot offers various programs to support employees work-life, such as

Tuition reimbursement

  • Encourages and supports associates who enroll in college, university, and technical school courses in order to obtain an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or technical degree.

  • Eligible associates to receive reimbursement for approved courses that are related to company business.

Adoption assistance

  • The Home Depot will help with the expense of adopting a child, such as legal costs, adoption agency fees, and travel expenses.

  • Employees can apply for up to $5,000 in reimbursement for reasonable and necessary costs associated with the adoption that isn’t covered by any other source, such as other employer grants.

Financial security programs

The Home Depot wants to help associates retain their earnings and they offer several programs that can help build financial security, including:

  • Health Savings Account

  • 401(k)

  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)

  • Direct Deposit and Credit Union
