Tips on how to set up for remote work success
You’ve found a great role, you’ve applied, and have nailed your final interview - now what?? Here are some ways to be successful while working from home.
Find your own space
Whether it be a spare room or a dedicated spot in the corner of your living room, choose a space that you will use only for working. This will allow you to focus on your tasks at hand and accomplish more throughout your day. Having a designated workspace will also help you have a healthier work/life balance.
Get the tools you need
Many companies will require you to have a very strong Wifi connection and a computer that will meet the needs of your role. While some organizations will provide the equipment, others may not. So, be sure to ask about this in your interview! Some other useful tools:
A comfortable office chair
A headset with an earpiece and microphone
A second monitor to help with productivity
External keyboard and mouse
Printer/scanner
Set boundaries
If you have family/roommates at home with you, it’ll be important to establish boundaries to ensure you can remain focused while at work. Let them know what your hours are during the day, so that they know when they should be quiet and let you work uninterrupted. If you have pets that are always begging for attention, you may want to consider setting them up in another room so they can remain content throughout your day.
