I am interested in a job at home. I want to work with a company that has benefits, cares about all their employees, no matter where they reside and will pay a reasonable amount for experience. Lastly, I am looking for a company that will not look at age as a determining factor in hiring the right candidate. Training is important and it should be disclosed upfront, in fact, all the details should be in writing and transparent.

Hi - I am young, capable, ready and willing to work, but so far timing has been bad... any referrals ? (East San Diego area)

I am 20, graduated high school, had a couple part time jobs which were more like internship/job training. The most recent one would have turned into something much better, as they decided to take me on for more hours, but right then I became injured and on crutches for about 2.5 weeks, and they got busy and had to cover my hours with new employees. I was going to go back tomorrow but now it seems there is not so much of an opening. I live in the San Diego area and was hoping someone knew of work in the east county area, especially, as I currently use public transportation for the most part. This would be Lakeside, La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, mostly. I can get around pretty well that way, and I really want to start working as my living situation is not going to last and I need to be able to pay rent somewhere. I am open to just about anything reasonable. I've tried applying the usual way, job fairs, etc. I am more comfortable talking to people I don't know when it is not such a cold-call situation, so that also makes the job search harder for me. Also, I am also really good at fixing things so an apprenticeship doing repairs of any type, even with technical gadgets or computers, would be a good fit. I'm a bit on the more quiet side, so I'm not the perky sales person type, just so you know, but when I'm told what to do, I do it very well. Thanks!

Hey Ben, Welcome to the Jobcase community! There are plenty of job opportunities and apprenticeships out there but the job market is competitive so you're going to have to find a way to break out of your comfort zone when talking to people in order to land in the right opportunity. Defining what you want to do is also important because it reassures employers that you're going to be excited about the job and be a dependable employee. Job Fairs are great because you get to meet recruiters, learn about different jobs, and discuss how you would be a good fit in the company. There's an ongoing national effort to recruit more workers into apprenticeship opportunities. The apprenticeships are designed to be earn as you learn program usually lasting up to 5 years depending on the field or trade you chose to enroll in. You can search for available programs in your area via the US Department of Labor website (https://www.dol.gov/featured/apprenticeship). There's a Job Fair in San Diego on June 1st at the Handlery Hotel, 950 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, CA 92108. The event is free for all job seekers in the area. All you need to do is pre-register here, http://www.nationalcareerfairs.com/career-fairs/san-diego-career-fairs/. Update your resume and try to make it to this event so you can meet face to face with recruiters and discuss job opportunities. Reach out to me if you have any other questions, Good Luck!

Hi Virginia, I took a look at their careers page and found a team member posting. It was posted on May 5th, so I would suggest giving them a call as well to see if they are still hiring. http://bit.ly/1f3uUTh Good luck!
