I've been at the same job for four years and was promised promotion several times. But every time when I'm close to the promised timeline... a new hire would sweep in for the job. It took me forever to figure out this game that I'm always gonna be at the bottom of the promotion list. Sadly to admit that as much as I invested all the time in building my experience and relationships here, it's probably not worth for me to stay anymore.

That has happened to me. The first time I didn’t believe it then the second time I told myself this is not the place for me. I left.

Start writing your resume. Then put yourself out there looking for a new job. I'm certain you will find a new job with better pay and many other benefits. Don't stay where you aren't appreciated.

If you are prepared to walk, have a discussion with the ones that determine promotions. See if there is a skill set you are lacking. If they cannot answer why, then give your notice.

I've had it happen often in my lifetime. I'm a female in construction. I just do what I do and if I'm unhappy I leave. I know my value and refuse to play "the game". NEXT. Often times it's because they are threatened by your contributions.

You always treat every employee the same so there won't be any confusion between anyone. By holding everyone to the same standard no one will feel out of place.

The workforce is comprised of friends and relatives. At 76 I am still experiencing the injustice of the workplace. Good luck securing employment on what you know, verses who you know. Trust me I could write volumes on discrimination in the workplace.

Keep my professional attitude and know no one else has the on the job experience also. My time will come when the right people are put in the right position and wait for better offers as others recognize.

Okay what I get for this is that your raise might be going to stuff that is breaking or you are not in a position to get your raise? Usually people who continue their education get paid more. a promotion they are moved up. So in your situation if u don't get one you probably have to ask someone for a second job that is like a raise to you. So supposedbly online stuff. Like say your work sells stickers. U can probably sell stickers after work. But I would be careful what you do because it might do something to your business? or your established money. But you can look up stuff.
