Until it is done, it will remain undone...

@Bill Branstetter, for me, the difference is that a job is something I do because I have to do it in order to survive; it's a place I will remain until a better option is available. It is a state of mind of gratitude, yet dissatisfaction.

A career is a destination I am always striving toward, always studying, researching, and learning to be better. It is that place where the passion is so present that it isn't work at all because it's who I am and who I am meant to be. The pay and benefits ride along in the back seat.

The answer to this question will be far different for some. I only speak from my own human experience...

Commercial Driver

@Bill Branstetter I consider the trucking industry a career because not to many people can do it. Commercial drivers are in high demand and most truck drivers get compensated up to 6 figures. It matters because we can get a job anywhere in the country, can’t easily be replaced, have job security, and we are held to higher standards when driving on the road.
