You have to be a great leader, always leading your colleagues, and wanting what's best for each of them. You have to know how to prioritize your time and submit your paperwork before the deadline. Do not wait till the last day, always work ahead of your schedule to free up some time for you to conversate with employees and see what needs to be enhanced. Also, do not stress! The Administrator's job can be stressful, so please take care of your mental health, spiritual health, and physical fitness. You have to be their role model. I agree with Aileen, however, you also need a deep knowledge of the company. As well as Human Resources knowledge.
It is imperative to have a full understanding of the company, but also the culture prior to your hire date. Often people spend their first month trying feel the climate of the company. Full proficiency and active skills like time management, attention to details, and communication are key, knowing the lay of the land is very important.

Be wise and realistic, help others, helpful and kind.. that is all

Organizational skills as well as typing and answering phones and being a great communicator and being able to assist your superior.
