Do you feel obligated to attend work events outside of work hours or do you prefer to politely decline?

It would depend how often they occur and how busy my life outside of work is. On the other hand, having to attend during a regular work shift means not having as much time to get everything done.

Prefer not likely to attend unless there is over pay and it’s not an all weekend job.

I politely decline, as I am married and like to be at home when I am not at work.

Define "work events". Are we talking about additional training opportunities or a bunch of co-workers getting together to socialize after work? If it's the latter I would politely decline. If it is the former, I would 1st investigate and determine if it would be beneficial to me and depending on my findings, I would answer appropriately.
