I just got offered a job in my desired field (I'm a data analyst) and the salary is right where I want it to be........................................................................................................................................................
From my experience, I regret not negotiating past offers. Why? Because it's MUCH harder to get a raise/promotion than it is to begin at a higher rate. Know your worth!

Always negotiate - research the salaries in your area for that role - do you have Jr, Mid or Sr- don’t shortchange yourself

I would aim 20% above the offer, it's very possible you'll get 10% above what you wanted.

Well, I am opposite of this. Don't be greedy because you will talk yourself out of a good job that the Lord has for you; there can be room for growth at this company down the line as well.

I have a friend that lost a good job opportunity because he pushed too hard during negotiations. So be careful.

King Edward of distance past once told a colleague braggingly, that his loyal subservient subject on the enemy's side, turned for much less than the Bishop did... Negotiating is to vest in yourself within reason, and to prosper through the work you have chosen.

Yes negotiate whenever you can. Only you can look out for you.

ALWAYS negotiate. They might not respect you as a potential leader if you don't negotiate.

I have almost 17 years working in the food industry and from all the restaurants I’ve worked at, I see the reality of what happens to very hard working people who don’t ask for raises. I always push for people who deserve it to stand up for themselves because they are worth it. I’m very good in a kitchen and if a shop doesn’t give you tips it ain’t for it trust me. They are so many jobs in the food industry and happy employees is so important. It makes it easy to push through a 10 hour shift.

I have a friend who works in hiring at her company and says its perfectly acceptable for new hires to negotiate their salary. In her experience, men will 9 times out of 10 negotiate, while women rarely. Something I think about often when applying for jobs! Good luck!
