I hate ageism. It’s unfounded by data. It is wrong. And it is especially wrong for an era marked by the powerful combo of lifespans expanding & opportunities expanding.

The key problem is that ageism also affects the attitude of the funding sources. They don't want to take a gamble on you. They also say, "why don't you use your retirement money to fund your company." Sometimes that is not enough for a start or you really do need that money in retirement and can't afford the tax hit if you take it out. A no win situation.
This is wonderful data and truth. Perhaps it is assembling people and creating the business organizations now.. I know how to start the business - adding all elements of the need and idea, funding and people together is fine tuning. Or another way is create a solution and let the product generate the funding source. How is getting seen with the support?
One path that seems to be discounted if not ignored: a start-up is not necessarily an organization put together today, or even in the last year. Startup energy and methods can be applied to new initiatives expanding on an existing structure. Consider as an example a software developer with their own consultancy may begin a project developing an app to be marketed through a new channel...
