That happened to my brother but he kept copies and took that company to court. That company put my brother on administrative leave with full pay and he won the court case. When he left to go to a new offer of another job in the same field, then he left the old job on his terms.

When do I get hired?
This is great except I got an offer (written) from a scammer that looked good at first, Until they sent a check and wanted me to send money to another bank. They were using the name of a legitimate company, so it was very difficult to see the scam.

I've worked at my current job for nearly four years now, I'm so curious after reading this. When I started at the company at the bottom there was room for plenty of growth. So eventually I was offered a promotion which I promptly took without signing or reading anything no job description though the promotion didn't have many changes in responsibilities it did require more work for more money. On my first day at this new position I recieved a call from my supervisor whome I was preparing to train with for my new position, telling me she had gone into labor. This was expected but not on my first day. I recieved no training and immediately assumed my supervisors position as acting supervisor for the time until she returned. I got through my trial of fire and she returned to work after the two month leave, and I returned to my assistant position. Fast forward to this last April. I am still in the same position as assistant, and the new supervisor needed to leave on military duty and is also pregnant. So I was then asked again to accept the position of acting supervisor. Of course this time I have a much better idea of how to take care of the responsibilities that are required from this position and the company has made good on our verbal agreements such as adjusted pay/benefits. Sorry for the long story, my question is am I being taken advantage of by my company? Should I have gotten the offer of acting supervisor in writing ? Or since it is potentially temporary is everything okay? There is a decent possibility that the current supervisor may step away and at that time when or if they offer me the actual position and not the acting position I feel as if they will just let everything continue on as is with the only difference being that I would be put on salary and a few extra benefits. If this happens should I just go with it or should I require they send me a written job offer like the way you have written above?
Thanks so much for posting this gave me something to think about.
