was newly pregnant women and teens have a need for guidance and education on what they need to do now that there is a pregnancy. I did not realize how lacking in knowledge women have for what to do next. Clients are unaware to the resources available to them and how to obtain these resources. Case managers with a managed care health plan do not have the time to assist pregnant clients; most the time they are unaware the client is pregnant. Sadly, health care is lacking in many areas, especially in pregnancy. If it were more of a priority, possibly we could help women to have a healthy pregnancy which in turn would keep newborn infant ending up in the NICU.
