I have noexperience and want to get into bartending as a part time job. Any suggestions on good types of bars to start at or should I just go for it? #bartender

I agree bartending school is a good start then restaurants where the bar is secondary to food ...

As a bartender of 9 years, some places will hire you and teach you but for the most part you do have to start from the ground up. You’ll likely start hosting, get moved to food running, then serving and then promoted to bartending. Don’t waste your time going to bartending school- it likely won’t get you anywhere. Good luck!!

I would recommend taking a bartending certification class and then applying at some of your local restaurants that are hiring. Some of the smaller local restaurants are sometimes willing to train a new bartender. I loved working as a bartender. Wishing you the best of luck!
Don't go to bartending school! It is not required. Plus it is a wasting time and money!! Applying for a barback and let them know you want to become a bartender.
