Hi @Kimeshia Jackson - I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a tough time finding a role. People make mistakes, but past mistakes should not define a person's future. Have you checked out our Second Chances Resource Center here on Jobcase?
Below are some companies that are known for hiring those who deserve a second chance:
Here are some tips for your job search:
Apply widely Apply to as many job openings as you think you qualify for, this will increase your chances of finding a job. The more well-constructed applications you submit, the more interviews you will hopefully secure.
Stay reasonable You should always review the requirements and responsibilities for the position. If you feel you would make a good fit, tailor your resume to reflect the role you are applying to, and submit your application!
Prepare, prepare, prepare Before you accept an interview, whether it be virtual or in person, be sure to do the proper legwork! Research the company, ask a family member or friend to do a mock interview with you, and practice your interview skills and proper body language.
Be truthful There is a pretty good chance you may be asked about any criminal history. If it comes up, be honest, because many companies still run background checks and lying may disqualify you from being offered the job. Keep your explanation simple and accept responsibility for your actions. Shift the focus on how you have worked hard to better yourself and are ready to make changes in your life to help your career and give back to your community.
Best of luck, we're rooting for you!
