Depending on the style and how busy the store the store is there are generally only three full-time positions the manager the assistant manager and the full-time key other than that everybody is part-time.

I start every interview the same way I asked the applicant how many hours they are looking for and when they say part-time hours what does part-time mean to them generally they will say 20 to 30 hours. And then I tell them Dollar general's idea of part-time and the rest of the universe is completely different. I can guarantee they will get 4 hours a week granted none of my people only worked for hours unless they asked but that's what the people are told Dollar General believes in more people less hours. However if you are willing to relocate and you work hard you can move up as far as you want with Dollar General they open 1,300 stores every year that's 1,300 teams they need every year. I tell each person my story. I started out 4hrs a week, moved up to assistant manager and then to store manager within 2years

Know how to work with a team, handle intense situations and count. It's overall an easy job but depending on where the location is it may differ in intensity. Busy days may be a bit more stressful but that's with anything. Most people I know got fired for miscounted drawers, so just make sure the count is always checked even if it takes longer. The rest is easy

How to count to three, how to spell your name, ROY G BIV, how to color inside the line's, how to turn a calculator on/off, the name game lyrics by Shirley Ellis, fingerpainting, how to tie your shoelaces, dabbing, pomp and circumstance, how to play beer pong, how to make peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and you should be fluent in 8 or 9 foreign languages. Good Luck!

Dollar general has an easy interview process. Mine consisted of talking to the manager about anything and everything. Then I was hired. You move up easily in the company. I’ve been with dollar general for a year and I’m an assistant manager. When I was hired I was told they don’t do drug test which I wasn’t and would have past even if they had.
