My neighborhood came together!

As a result of the #Coronavirus craziness, my neighborhood caught onto the trend of starting a group "WhatsApp" thread.

The purpose is to provide emotional support and ask for help if needed. A lot of neighbors have been offering to pick up groceries for one another and extending a helping hand with errands.

Many of these people I don't even know in person! But, it's a great feeling knowing that our little community is sticking together to tough out this scary time.

While I appreciate the sentiment, Elyssa, most in this day and age are needing groceries, not emotional support. People need financial support. Survival is the primary goal. Dealing with grief and trauma is secondary and I say this as a Licensed Clinical Therapist...

Mine started an email group to check on each other & share information. Great for seniors in the neighborhood.

Elyssa,

That's great. Unfortunately, your community is a unicorn. Hopefully, your post will encourage our Jobcase community to become active in there neighborhood. One good deed creates another one. I will continue to do my part now and in the future...

That is wonderful. Plus your also getting to know your community. My neighbor and I both in our 60's take turns each week on Wednesday's food shopping and picking up prescriptions for our 4 neighbors older than us and for each other. We made a plan and its been working beautifully all month. We also take turns calling every day to check in on them and chat for awhile. We elders need to look out for each other.
