I’m working in a restaurant with weird rules where I cannot order takeout food order for myself before or after my shifts.

I must call/come to the restaurant the day I don’t work. The restaurant has a family meal which is a free meal for employees.

I worked in all different types of restaurants. Some of them let you order a free meal from the menu (cost fewer items, not the entire menu).

Some restaurants offer a 50 percent discount, but you can’t order takeout. You must have to eat your food at the restaurant.

What would you prefer to have a free meal or a discount on every purchase?

The system is probably only for customers, therefore if as an employee you try to order it will reject your request!

Curious, do they still have their HR department next to a runway where a parked car could get sideswiped by small aircraft?

I would much rather a free meal during my shift. I'd be able to save much $ that way, save time by not having to brown bag my meals. 👍
