Edward and Liz's comments are the very sad, desperate cry of most seniors. Please don't respond to them with more chirpy or Biblically-motivated advice. We need REAL help NOW - Employers won't give you the time of day, let alone an interview. You're either grossly overqualified or unsuitable by virtue of age-related disabilities. They don't want to offer you insurance because (statistically) you'd cause all the employees' rates to climb. Job fairs only consist of small businesses or companies offering minimum wage (food service, hospitality, retail). Something realistic and concrete MUST BE DONE by the Feds and states must get on board to support programs of this kind.

Perhaps that service is not needed as much in your area. Try something different

Hi Liz.If you don't mind driving I suggest Grub Hub or Door dash. I have been doing Grub Hub for about 6 months now and have only once made less than 20 an hour. I work 3 or 4 hours a day during lunch 11-2 or 11-3. I live here in Florida. I hear from other drivers you can even make more during dinner hours but I don't drive in the dark. I am spoiled now because you don't have to clock in as I had to do for so many years. You basically work when you want. If you have an appt.or just don't feel like working that is up to you. And if you want to buy something extra just work a few extra hours. i love it. I have done Door dash also for a year and a half and make decent money there also. When you first apply to grub hub depending where you live you may be on a waiting list for a month or so as they only use the amt. of drivers they need, they don't saturate the roads like uber. Also, grub hub lets you schedule hours if you want but I found that just signing on without scheduling hours works for me just as well. It's fun, everyone is nice (usually) lol and you have freedom of your hours. I'd give it a try if I were you, it works for me. Good luck, I'm sure you will make that extra money you need...
