I went away for a funeral. It was over 900 miles away, so I worked Monday & we headed out Tuesday morning for the funeral on Thursday. Got up for work at 8am — java & a bite —to get ready for 9am. I received a call at 8:02am informing me I had been fired for poor performance. I wasn’t poor at my job nor perfect, but I know this was not the reason I was terminated. It was because I took most of the week. With everything going on I am somber. The entire matter sucks & now I must move on. What a world! #termination #funeral #resilience #jobsearch

A lot of companies allow 1 week for close relatives,( ask which relatives) it's up to HR. Then you need to also let them know ahead of time for your loss & when is the funeral. Afterwards they'll need some type of obituary depending on the company. It is imperative that you check the policies on bereavement w/ your HR Representative. Things have changed so much it's always helps to be ahead of the game. For the person that got fired for going to the funeral,unemployment should be able to deal w/ this employer & their way of dealing w/ you . It was so wrong & I'm sorry for your loss.

My husband was terminated while on medical leave, under doctors care! He went into HR to turn his next doctor appointment in and they told him he had been terminated,…worked 24 yrs there! And they say companies can’t keep good help!!!

I was fired for the same reason. I had to get rushed to a hospital in Boston with my brother who has cancer. I didn't cover my shift so I was fired

Check your performance out, look back and see wht you think they felt your performance was poorly, did you get any warnings..file a grievance of wrongful termination, and a civil suit, of mental issues from being terminated, racism, it doesn't matter if it's the color of your skin. It could be You as a woman. Etc. Pray about it and do it. Believe!
