If you want to avoid the headache of getting scammed by a fake job offer, make sure you abide by these four rules:
- Do an online search. Look up the name of the company or the person who’s hiring you, plus the words “scam,” “review,” or “complaint.” You might find out they’ve scammed other people.
- Talk to someone you trust. Describe the offer to them. What do they think? This also helps give you vital time to think about the offer.
- Don't pay for the promise of a job. Legitimate employers, including the federal government, will never ask you to pay to get a job. Anyone who does is a scammer.
- Never bank on a “cleared” check. No legitimate potential employer will ever send you a check and then tell you to send on part of the money, or buy gift cards with it. That’s a fake check scam. The check will bounce, and the bank will want you to repay the amount of the fake check.
Have you ever dealt with a job scammer? What happened?

Now I'm worried about everything I apply for that crazy because I really want a at home job...smh

That's jkd up

Nope it was a scam ow my bank $1800 bucks

A few years ago I was sent a large check in the mail and told to deposit it in my account and sent dollars back via money order! I gave it to the band and the FBI got involved, in the mean time I was contacted by the check sender wanting and wondering where his money was, he got quite upset, but I never responded to any of his demands. Never heard back from the FBI either.

Thank you for let me know about scammed

Also if you apply for a job and they say all equipment included but want you to cash their check and give it back to them so they can purchase the equipment is definitely a scam. They almost has me

I went to prison for five years just getting out and back into swing of things. I was involved with a payroll scam that I thought leglegit but it was a scam

Also if the job states it pays much more than the national average and/or a difference in salary while training and perm you know it is scam! Check the person email address as well. I caught a nigerian email address (scam email) on one of my offers

I once found a job that was for a supermarket and the person was paying a stipend over and hourly pay? Immediately that was the red flag. I called the supermarket and explained that 'this person' displayed a job for a stipend and I told the manager that the position was an hourly paid positon and not a salaried position. I told them the name and company was investigating. Although I didn't know what happened after that...I wasn't the only one that caught it, but I am the first one to be open about it.
I had an e mail concerning a "silent shopper" position. The ad had the name of Whole Foods as the employer. Sure enough I got a Fed Ex with a check for $1,400 dollars. I needed to put it in my bank right away, and keep $400 and send the rest to these people in visa cards that you pay for at the actual store. I knew this was a scam when I received the check and instructions. This had nothing to do with Secret Shopping (which I would love to legitimately do! I never sent the ck. back and it looked fake, and the email is still on my screen, in case I ever need it. The scammers have never contacted me. I sent them an e mail stating my bank would not accept the check.
