Does anyone hire direct these days?
Laid off after 25 years and struggling to find direct hire position.
No these staffing agencies send you on false hopes, then you are left to desperately find your own job..
I was just asking my friend that same question yesterday :-(
I do not know where anyone is looking but there are many options. Don't just look for the specific job you were doing but think of the skills you have and what other jobs you could do. Go to state employment offices, look in newspapers, talk to friends and family. go on the internet. If you do not know how to do that ask for help. If you have hobbies that are different that the last job you had you can use those skills. What do you want to do?
I am having the same issue trying to find a job it seems they are trying to make it these days that you have to pay to even be considered to get a job its a big joke and its because technology sucks. And people these days are just greedy and scam artists but I would recommend trying to go store to store or business to business on foot and trying to get there apps or there direct web sites if they don't have them then be nice and walk away.
They don't seem to do that anymore. I had to apply online to a lot of jobs lately. In the old days you just went to the store and spoke with the manager, but today it is all online. Makes it easier to reject you based on an algorithm. Amazon turned me down in only a few minutes after I applied online, no interview, no call back, just instantly declined. Learn to write a Resume that a computer can read and accept, because very few humans will ever look at your application.
Express Professionals has a good reputation. Employers need a test ride since so many new hires have tardiness, attendance or other issues.
I feel the same way been looking for a job after 26 years . I need good pay and insurance right away.
I compared notes with a man who had 14 years of experience (I have over 25), and both of us were direct hired by a headhunter (i.e. without a hiring manager). Search this keyword with your desired job title. Positions will probably be temp or contract to hire, but at least you will get your foot in the door. Good luck.
