Great topic Reena!! As an independent contractor I can agree that its flexible & offers great independence. Pay can sometimes be unreliable, but that was only before I actually got set up with my clients. Now, pay is always reliable & I don't have to worry about it. I'd have to agree with the Cons, but I've managed to work around that. Benefits, that's probably the biggest hassle of being an independent contractor, but I found this really great insurance company that works soley with contractors, & the coverage is great for me & my family & its renewed yearly automatically so I don't have to worry about it. It was very difficult finding this insurance company, previous ones we have used were only for 6 months at a time, it was such a headache! Personal expenses, that's expected, but we get tax breaks as everything that I do at my home office is taken into account. I have an accountant so I make sure that we are doing our taxes correctly & getting the most credits that are offered. Feeling isolated isn't really something I've experienced. I have co-workers, just not someone I can visit with at the office, but I can do video chats & its pretty much like they are in my office. :) Constantly looking for the next gig, that can be a hassle, but word of mouth is how I find my clients. Referrals are truely a lifesaver!

I love the flexibility! No benefits are no good.
