Here's how to answer the common interview question, "tell me about yourself." #interview #interviewquestions #interviewprep

The interviewer does not want to know your whole life story. The interviewer just wants to know your current life story, like for example your recent past or current job that will be relevant to the position you are applying for, whether it was the skills acquired from the job or the actual job position itself that will benefit the company. In other words do not go more than like 2 years back.

that is basically what your resume is for.

This is very helpful when preparing for an interview. I like to provide the interviewer with experience of previous jobs and what I am doing now. Also, I give information about what skills I bring to the job.

I disagree. This question is more of a personality and character inquisition, how passionate you are in your roles. If they wanted to know your accomplishments and skill set, they'd ask "Tell me about your work experience". I would answer the "Tell me about yourself" question by saying "I'm detailed oriented and creative so love to do analytics and problem solving bla bla bla."

disagree better to ask what they would like to know about you

Great, i was really new to these things and I'm glad that I was able to get some help from this TikTok. Thanks a lot 🙏.

Well put

What a great mental model for "the question"
Its insane, I have sent out so many resume. Walked it in. Called,.left messages etc. These are jobs I'm perfectly qualified for. My famiy keeps saying, everywhere is hiring. Basically .they think I'm not trying hard enough. I'm either over qualified or under qualified. I removed somethings on my resume, dumbed it up as they say. They don't know how old I am. It not on my resume. I'm out of time. I will lose everything I've worked hard for. I'm gonna try temp service. See how that goes.
