I have learned over the years that you really have to put in the time to do the research about the roles that you applied to! This can be done by going to the companies website and looking at the job description and comparing it to similar roles!  and then moving forward and taking that information and going on a platform similar to Glassdoor to see what the salary usually I’d for that particular position.
