I have accounting/bookeeping experience but recently had a stroke and brain surgery. Can't tell unless I speak. My speech was affected but not my knowledge.I need work but nobody will hire me because of it.

What should I do?

What about online accounting support, like TurboTax etc, have you tried them?

In Michigan you would go to Michigan Rehabilitation Services’ . They work with you to obtain what’s called a second work certificate. Every state has an agency.

Talk to a disability lawyer. They will talk to you and instruct the best route to take. No employer can discriminate for any reason but especially a disability. Did they even give you a chance to show what you could do? Shame on them. Pitiful

Make a website and make cards and distribute around your neighborhood or business. Maybe try switching profession Maybe a subject or hobby you really enjoy and try to make it a business. If you’ve exhausted all resources You might consider applying for SSDI Most important you should be proud of your tenacity and not let people’s ignorance or judgment or the rejection get you down. There’s nothing wrong about you it’s just employers are starting to pass over people 50 and above and if your speech is affected they really worry about your health and how it’s going to effect your attendance, performance, If you would need to go on temporary disability. It’s just the way the world is with middle age. You become more of a liability than an asset in their mind. Good luck

I had a stroke and brain surgery as well I have a disease called moyamoya I have actually had two brain surgeries and over 30 tia s . I'm sorry u ate going through this . I am very fortunate I came back n I was able to start moving my left side again. I have some difficulties n have had trouble with employment as well I have an A.S. degree in Office Administration but it just goes to waste. Have u tried getting disability ? I have it but have to work pt to pay for car n my meds. It should not be a problem for you to do bookkeeping and such just because it speech is off a little. I will be praying for you. Also go on indeed . I know it's hard I am going through it too keep ur head up xo

I have an associates degree in accounting but I have copd with 24/7 oxygen. I have a portable oxygen unit but they take one look and say we will call you. I would like at the a part time job that I can do at home but I am so afraid of being scammed. Any suggestions?
